The Stable at Tanawha is a great venue to hold a corporate social function.
Participants can play golf, tennis, swim or just relax and unwind. For groups of 20 or more, use of the BBQ facilities and Stable are free. You can arrange your own BBQ or we can supply or arrange catering.

Ambrose is a competition recommended as a good social and team building game. Heaps of fun for golfers of all levels to play together. This game is fun for non golfers as well.

The rules are:
Each player hits off from the same tee.
The position of the best shot is selected and all other players take their own ball to that position and each hit off again. This continues until the hole is completed and one score is recorded for the team of 2,3 or 4 players.
Other rules can be included to make it more fun, such as - at least one of the tee shots must be taken from each of the players in the team, or teams can be handicapped depending of the level of golfers playing in each team.

GOLF
There are several options available for anyone who wants the company of other golfers while playing golf, whether for a bit of competitive spirit, the social interaction or a little of both.
MID-WEEK
We have a mid week, 9 hole stroke competition running through from Tuesday to Friday. These are very casual competions with a handicap system that ensures everyone will win some time and is quite suitable for beginners as well as the more experienced player who just wants compete against themselves while enjoying the company of others.The tee off times are throughout the day with the majority of players opting for a time slot between 6.30am and 8am or a bit later over the winter months, mainly on Tuesday and Thursday.
PRIZES AND COSTS
There is a $4 comp. fee plus unless you have a course membership,a discounted greens fee. This is for each time you enter and you may enter multiple times over the two days as the results are calculated using the best rounds of both days. Prizes range from high quality Polo shirts and wines or beer, down to balls for nearest the pin, least putts and a short run down from first depending on the size of the field over the two days.

SATURDAY
On Saturday mornings, theTanawha Valley Social Golf Club runs it's competition, which while still being a very casual social style of event is run on a more structured basis. After each game there is a sausage sizzle and presentation while everyone socialises over a coffee or beer. It is generally a 9 hole event, however on the first Saturday of the month, it is an 18 hole event known as the Monthly Medal and is run in 2 grades. The winner of each grade for each month is then eligible to compete in the final at the end of the year. There is also a three round Club Championship event run in Spring as well as the occasional inter-club competition with other Par 3 clubs. While the majority of the games played are stroke events, many other scoring methods are used such as Ambrose, Stableford, Individual Par, Match Play etc.
If you're fairly new to the game and are a bit hesitant about the rules and scoring systems, don't worry as the other players will happily guide you along.
Start times vary with season and whether it is a 9 or 18 hole game. Please refer to the Calendar of Events for specific times.
The Social Club runs with two handicapping system, one based on the official AGU system which is used for the 18 hole and inter club games, and the other for the balance of the games. This latter system is a cross between the official and the mid-week systems to suit the more informal status of these games.
PRIZES AND COSTS
Social Club membership is $10 per annum which after playing a minimum of 5 games, also entitles you to free entry to the Annual Presentation Night which includes a meal and entertainment.
The comp. fee is $5 which includes the sausage sizzle and raffle plus if you don't have course membership there is also a discounted greens fee to pay.
Prizes are basic and include wines, beer and balls for place getters, nearest the pins and least putts with medals for each of the grade winners of the Monthly Medal days. There are also many prizes given at the Annual Presentation Night.

TENNIS
LADIES MID WEEK FIXTURES
Wednesday and Friday mornings see a number of grades of ladies teams playing home and away games over three seasons per year. All players must be registered with Tennnis Queensland and pay an up front fixtures fee for each season. |

JUNIOR SATURDAY FIXTURES
Saturday morning and afternoon have a number of mixed junior grades playing fixtures competitions. These are also played on a home and away basis over two seasons per year. The players must be registered with Tennis Queensland and pay a season fixtures fee up front per season. The junior fixtures fee includes the cost of team registration.
